We greatly appreciate your continued support for Alamance Orange Prison Ministry and all that goes into supporting the men at Orange Correctional Center. The AOPM Board wanted to let you know about a transition that will be taking place in the ministry. Chaplain Louis Threatt had resigned from his position as chaplain for AOPM effective as of February 1, 2020 and will have stepped down by the time you read this. Chaplain Threatt has made great contributions to the ministry and has grown it in important ways during his tenure, including establishing the Christ the King congregation within the prison, and shepherding much of the expanding re-entry work taking place at the facility. We celebrate his commitment to the men at OCC and all the good work he has done during his time with us and thank him for it.

While we begin the process to find a new Chaplain for AOPM, the board is committed to continuing as much programming as possible. To help in this effort a familiar face has offered to step in and assist during this transition period. Chaplain Jerry Love will be filling in on a part time basis for the next couple of months while we conduct the search and hiring process for the new chaplain. For those newer to AOPM, Chaplain Love was the AOPM chaplain before Chaplain Threatt, so will come in already very familiar with the workings of the ministry. Although in his part time role Chaplain Love will not be able to oversee all programming, we aim to keep critical programs and outreach operating normally, such as Yokefellows, ministering to the men, and important re-entry programs. We feel blessed that Chaplain Love was able and willing to play this interim role, and thank him for his dedication to the ministry.

If you have any questions regarding specific program scheduling, please contact the Orange Correctional Facility at 919-732-9301. Although we are sad to see Chaplain Threatt leave, we are also excited about the future of the ministry and all that is to come.

We appreciate your patience during this time of transition.

Faithfully,

The Alamance Orange Prison Ministry Board of Trustees
