Alamance Orange Prison Ministry (AOPM) is the non-profit community organization providing a chaplain and bringing spiritual comfort and growth to the men assigned to Orange Correctional Center
How We Started
What originally began as a chaplaincy program through Yates Baptist Association in 1984 became Alamance Orange Prison Ministry in 1987. While Alamance Orange Prison Ministry remains a Christian organization, we serve people of all faiths through our chaplain to the residents and staff at Orange Correctional Center, a North Carolina minimum security prison for adult males in Hillsborough, NC.
Many people assume that the state pays a chaplain inside all prisons, but the state does NOT provide chaplain services in smaller state prisons.
Orange Correctional Center is one facility which relies on the community to provide a chaplain for religious and spiritual support programs.
